Text 7 Aug Tashkent, Uzbek - Day Uno

The day starts at 7am, a quick breakfast and we’re off!

Our schedule dictate we’re to go to Zarafshan City today. So we zoom off to the airport. A photo of our hotel taken across the street.

And there we are.. the domestic terminal..

Was thinking we could just leave but we ended up spending almost 4 hours in the airport cause our flight was cancelled last minute. It kinda ruined our schedule – after a lot of phone-calling, planning and discussion we’re heading to the west instead of south.

My team.. waited and waited and waited for the arrangements to our next destination

I took some time to roam around the sparse space and found this –

Hello MAS!

Damn I can’t read Russian.. how to buy coffee like tat?

Finally we’re off.. There’s our plane.. the Fokker.. the ride on this thingy machingy is SCARY because of the weather we’re in and relatively small plane, the turbulence is amazingly terrifying. Honestly, I prayed.

Was very glad that we touched down safely at Nukus – the western-most city in Uzbek. Right after we touched down, we were whisked into three separate cars and off again to our destination – Urgench City. The ride was around 2 hours which was quite an eye opener to us.. We were on a road whereby the left side is a desert and right side is a plantation, agricultural land. On top of that we have to cross a river that was roaring and our “custom-hand-made bridge” is quite an experience..

When we reach the stadium; we were greeted with smiley faces against our worn-out and tired appearance

After the inspection and meeting, we went straight back to the airport.. this time it’s the airport in Urgench City – so glad we don’t have travel by car again. The flight is so in-frequent here that it’s really hard to get a ticket. No such thing as flight booking, we have to buy physical ticket.

Yup.. we’re walking to the plane.. it’s really far.. but I’m not complaining.. cause it’s a new A320 jet.. not a fokker.. Thank God!

Of course.. Last but not least, if you’re flying with Uzbek Air then Good Luck!

And that’s how I celebrated my birthday.. :) in a land far far away..

I’ll end my all my entries with what I noticed about Uzbek, it’s people and culture..

Things that makes me Uzbek:-

  1. I don’t use Air-Cond nor Fan.. not even when I’m sweating..
  2. I like always drive with the windows down.. ALWAYS
  3. I am good-looking.. so are my mum, sis, girlfriends and aunts* (females only)
